The temple was built by Amar Singh Thapa, Gurkha general in 18th century. Later the temple was damaged & renovated by Maharani Guleria of Jaipur in the 19th century. The source of Yamuna River lies in the Yamunotri Glacier which is at a height of 6,387 metres (20,955 ft) near the Bandarpunch peaks."

In the morning after an early breakfast, drive towards Gangotri. Upon arrival, take a holy dip in the river Ganges & offer prayer to the Goddess Ganges. After Darshan, drive back to Uttarkashi. Dinner & overnight stay at the hotel.
"The holy Gangotri temple is located at this sacred town. It is believed that at this place River Ganges descended on the earth after severe penance of King Bhagirathi. The Gangotri Temple was built by the Gurkha general Amar Singh Thapa in early 18th century. The Ganges originates from Gaumakh which is accessible after 19 Kms trek from Gangotri. During winters temple remain inaccessible due to heavy snowfall so the statue of Goddess Ganges is brought down to Mukhba, a small village in Harsil which lies on the way to the Gangotri Shrine."
Start the drive to Gaurikund. Upon arrival, start your journey on the zigzag and well-laid trail to Kedarnath, you can either opt trekking or there are other options of pony or horse or Doli available on rent. On arrival, proceed for holy Darshan of Kedarnath Temple. After seeking the blessing return back to Guptkashi for overnight stay.
